Application Portfolio Management includes Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Trend Analysis, Demand Trend Analysis and Application Portfolio Analysis.
Total Cost of Ownership:
- Identify the total cost of ownership (TCO) of applications based on the historical and financial information for operating and capital expenditures.
- Analyze the correlation between capital (capex) and operating (opex) expenditures at the application level to determine the current TCO trends based on capex/opex-ratio-based quadrant analysis.
Demand Trend Analysis
- Determine the nature of business demands addressed by IT contributions.
- Analyze business demand characteristics at the application level to determine the strategic and tactical business drivers.
- Assess IT strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis) to ascertain business perception of IT contribution to business priorities and demand at the strategic and tactical levels.
Application Portfolio Analysis
- Correlate TCO Trend Analysis with Demand Trend Analysis at the application level to ascertain the current versus the desired state of application portfolio in terms of technology value and business value.
- Analyze the correlations of TCO and demand to determine current versus desired percentage of spent dollars for applications.
